Title: Measuring singularities over the complex numbers, in characteristic p > 0, and over the p-adic integers.

Abstract:  Given a polynomial equation, one can consider it over the complex numbers and measure its singularities using geometric or analytic techniques. One may also take the same equation modulo p and consider its singularities using the Frobenius map.  Using recent breakthroughs in commutative algebra over the p-adic integers, one can also study the same equation where p is substituted in for one of the variables.  We will discuss how this intermediate world interpolates between and unifies the notions of singularities in characteristic 0 and characteristic p.
